Boiler information
Closed combustion boilers?
More and more gas boilers proposed on the market have a socalled closed
combustion chamber. The air needed for the combustion is taken from
outside the house and brought in the combustion where it is mixed
with gas and burned. The combustion products are evacuated by fan
from the boiler through a pipe.
For open combustion boilers the air used is directly taken from
the room where the boiler is installed. The evacuation of the combustion
product is often made through a pipe where a socalled draught diverter
is built, in order to facilitate the evacuation by natural draught
without the use of an electric fan.
The latest technology is decreasing on the market as some consumers
prefer to avoid any possibility for flue gas to come back to the
installation room if the flue gas pipe becomes blocked for example.
Note that in this case boilers are equipped with a safety system
that stops the burner.
