The servicing of boilers

We have to check our car once a year or every 15- to 20 000 kilometres. A heating system also needs a regular and specialist service. If a burner is operating about 1500 hours per year, a car would run about 100.000 km. According to this, it can not be wrong, to make a good service once a year.

In some countries like Germany one has to make a service once a year anyway.

The service is a guarantee for a constant low consumption, low emission rate and a steady operation for the whole system. According to this, the annual service should include:

• Burner service
  
• Cleaning the boiler (this is especially needed for fuel oil boilers)
  
• Check of the control and safetytechnics and if it is still working on the optimum
  
• Settings for low energy consumption and emission

The service cost usually depends on the size of the boiler and the area. For Austria and Germany it is about 100 Euro per year. Such a contract includes an emergency guarantee. In case of a sudden break down, the extra service is free of charge.

In some countries like Austria and Germany it is also prescribed to measure the emission of the boiler once a year.
