Boiler information

Boilers and water temperature

Considering the working temperature, the manufacturers are proposing three main types of boilers on the market: condensing, low temperature and standard.

A condensing boiler is a boiler designed to recover more waste heat, and particularly the heat from water vapour produced during the combustion of fossil fuels (see "What is a condensing boiler?").

A low temperature boiler is designed to accept an input of water at a temperature lower than 40°C. Low temperature heating systems give a lower heat loss in the distribution system, lower standby losses of the boiler, and a higher efficiency.

A standard boiler works with a water temperature between 70°C and 80°C, depending on the fuel used. It has higher heat losses than low temperature and condensing boilers, but depending on the use, - hot water, heating or both- and the climatic area and cost, it can better suit to your needs.

Generally the lower the temperature of the boiler, the higher the boiler efficiency (and the higher the price usually).

Ask an expert to advise you which is the most appropriate boiler for your needs.
